Influence of curcumin on performance and post-exercise recovery

Marilyn S. Campbell et al.

Summary: Intense exercise can cause muscle damage and decreased physical performance, while curcumin may help alleviate these symptoms. Research suggests that curcumin can improve self-perceived pain and muscle damage, increase antioxidant capacity, and reduce oxidative stress.

Long-term resveratrol treatment improves the capillarization in the skeletal muscles of ageing C57BL/6J mice

Luana Toniolo et al.

Summary: Resveratrol treatment has shown to counteract the effects of aging on skeletal muscles by reducing the appearance of tubular aggregates and improving fatigue resistance. The analysis of skeletal muscle capillarization in aging mice fed with Resveratrol for 6 months revealed an increase in capillary number, suggesting it as a good candidate for preventing capillary rarefaction.

Resveratrol and exercise combined to treat functional limitations in late life: A pilot randomized controlled trial

Sara A. Harper et al.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the safety and feasibility of combining exercise and resveratrol to treat older adults, showing that this combined treatment may improve skeletal muscle mitochondrial function and mobility-related indices of physical function. A larger trial is warranted to further validate these findings.

Resveratrol is cytotoxic and acts synergistically with NF-κB inhibition in osteosarcoma MG-63 cells

Ning Xu et al.

Summary: In this study using the MG-63 cell model, it was found that Resveratrol can inhibit proliferation, migration, and invasion of osteosarcoma cells and induce apoptotic cell death. Resveratrol may exert its effects by down-regulating nuclear factor kappa B (NE-kappa B) and Akt signaling pathways. The combination of Resveratrol and NE-kappa B inhibitor PDTC shows synergistic growth inhibition of osteosarcoma cells, supporting the translation of Resveratrol for clinical management of osteosarcoma patients.
