Investigating the Anticonvulsant Properties of Aqueous Ethanolic Extracts of the Leaves, Roots, and Fruits of Jatropha gossypifolia L. (Euphorbiaceae)

Gideon Drafor et al.

Summary: The study found that leaf and root extracts of Jatropha gossypifolia exhibited anticonvulsant activity, potentially through enhancement of GABAergic transmission or activation of GABA receptors. The leaf extract significantly and dose-independently reduced the frequency of myoclonic jerks and decreased the duration of clonic convulsions, while the root extract significantly and dose-dependently reduced the frequency of myoclonic jerks and tonic convulsions. The fruit extract only significantly and dose-independently reduced the frequency of myoclonic jerks, with an increase in the duration of clonic and tonic convulsions.

The emergence and evolution of intron-poor and intronless genes in intron-rich plant gene families

Hui Liu et al.

Summary: This study identified multiple gene families in plant genomes containing intronless or intron-poor genes, which play important roles in response to drought and salt stress, epigenetic processes, and plant development. The origin, evolution, and potential functions of these intronless and intron-poor sub-families provide insights into plant genome evolution and gene functional divergence.

Summary: This study identified 10 BnaDELLA genes in rapeseed, highlighting their evolutionary characteristics, genomic structure, miRNA targets, and expression patterns. The findings suggest that modulating individual BnaDELLA expression could enhance rapeseed stress tolerance and harvest index, providing valuable insights for further research in this area.
