Post-Translational Mechanisms of Plant Circadian Regulation

Jiapei Yan et al.

Summary: The molecular components of the circadian system can act together to form a self-sustaining oscillator, but also individually or in complexes to regulate circadian control over various physiological and developmental outputs. While most studies have focused on transcriptional control, recent research highlights the importance of post-transcriptional and post-translational mechanisms in impacting both the oscillator function and clock-controlled outputs.

Phytochrome A elevates plant circadian-clock components to suppress shade avoidance in deep-canopy shade

Donald P. Fraser et al.

Summary: Shade-avoiding plants can adjust their responses based on the presence of neighboring vegetation. This response is regulated by the phytochrome B photoreceptor, which becomes inactive in environments with low red to far-red light ratios. In deep canopy shade, plants can suppress stem elongation to counteract shade avoidance and promote survival.
