Multicolor tunable and NIR broadband emission from rare-earth-codoped tantalum germanate glasses and nanostructured glass-ceramics

Lia Mara Marcondes et al.

Summary: In erbium-doped and tantalum germanate glasses and nanostructured glass-ceramics, high photoluminescence efficiency, unusual NIR broadband, and tunable emission are possible. The chemical microenvironment around erbium ions and their optical properties are influenced by TaO6 cluster formation and tantalum perovskite-like bronze crystallization, with erbium ions preferentially distributed near tantalum-rich environments for intense emission. The broadening observed in nanocrystalline samples is due to the multi-sites of the tantalum perovskite-like bronze crystalline structure.

General Synthesis of Layered Rare-Earth Hydroxides (RE = Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Y) and Direct Exfoliation into Monolayer Nanosheets with High Color Purity

Mingjun Bai et al.

Summary: Layered rare-earth hydroxides (LREHs) were successfully prepared using organic dodecyl sulfate and exhibited increased interlayer spacing with higher host layer charge density. Nanosheets with high red-light emission purity were obtained through exfoliation, demonstrating an efficient synthesis strategy for well-defined LREH nanosheets.
