Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction Using Water as an Electron Donor under Visible Light Irradiation by Z-Scheme and Photoelectrochemical Systems over (CuGa)0.5ZnS2 in the Presence of Basic Additives

Shunya Yoshino et al.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrated the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 using water as an electron donor under visible light irradiation. The Z-scheme system using bare (CuGa)(0.5)ZnS2 photocatalyst and RGO-(CoOx/BiVO4) as an O2-evolving photocatalyst exhibited efficient CO production accompanied by H2 and O2 evolution. The addition of a basic salt enhanced the CO formation rate and selectivity. This Z-scheme system also showed activity for solar CO2 reduction using water as an electron donor. The bare (CuGa)(0.5)ZnS2 powder loaded on an FTO glass was used as a photocathode, resulting in the production of CO and H2 with high Faradaic efficiencies.

Visible-light-responsive Cl/S co-doped carbon nitride nanotubes for photocatalytic denitrification: A new reaction pathway dominated by photo-electrons

Guofei Jiang et al.

Summary: In this study, metal-free polymeric catalysts were used for the photocatalytic denitrification (PCDN) reaction under visible light. A hydrothermal-transverse thermal stripping method was developed to prepare Cl/S co-doped metal-free carbon nitride nanotubes as efficient photocatalysts. The results showed that the PCDN performance of Cl/S-TCN was 19 times higher than that of carbon nitride under visible light, and the PCDN reaction was dominated by photo-generated electrons (e(-)) in acidic solutions.

Effect of S vacancy in Cu3SnS4 on high selectivity and activity of photocatalytic CO2 reduction

Junyan Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, Cu3SnS4 with S vacancy and different ratios of Cu(I/II) and Sn(II/IV) was designed for photocatalytic CO2 reduction with high selectivity and activity. The conduction band (CB) position dominated by the Sn (II) 5p orbital of Cu3SnS4 could be regulated via controlling the content of Sn(II). The presence of Cu(I) and Sn(IV) in crystal lattice acted as the adsorption sites of CO2 and H2O, promoting further protonation for CH4 generation. The introduction of S vacancy led to the appearance of Cu(I) and Sn(II), inhibiting electron-hole recombination and improving reactivity and selectivity of CH4 production.

In-N-In Sites Boosting Interfacial Charge Transfer in Carbon-Coated Hollow Tubular In2O3/ZnIn2S4 Heterostructure Derived from In-MOF for Enhanced Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Quan Zhang et al.

Summary: A hierarchical hollow tubular In2O3/ZnIn2S4 heterostructure was designed by growing thin-layered ZnIn2S4 on the surface of carbon-coated hollow tubular In2O3, which showed significantly enhanced photocatalytic hydrogen evolution activity. The enhanced activity was attributed to narrowed band gap of C/HT-In2O3 and formation of staggered heterostructure between C/HT-In2O3 and ZnIn2S4, which facilitated fast interfacial charge transfer.
