Modeling evapotranspiration and evaporation in corn/tomato intercropping ecosystem using a modified ERIN model considering plastic film mulching

Ning Chen et al.

Summary: This study successfully estimated evapotranspiration and evaporation in a corn-tomato intercropping ecosystem under high plastic film mulching using the proposed MERIN model. The most intense water competition between corn and tomato was observed in stage II of the growth season, and the variation of water competition under different irrigation levels was similar in the intercropping ecosystem.

Data-driven soft computing modeling of groundwater quality parameters in southeast Nigeria: comparing the performances of different algorithms

Johnbosco C. Egbueri et al.

Summary: In this study, various soft computing techniques were integrated and compared for modeling and predicting groundwater quality parameters in the Ojoto area of SE Nigeria. The results showed that both anthropogenic and non-anthropogenic activities influenced water quality parameters, and a percentage of groundwater samples were found to be unsuitable for drinking. Heavy metals such as Pb, Ni, and Zn were found to have the most significant impact on the water quality indices. Multiple linear regression and artificial neural network algorithms showed different performances in simulating and predicting the parameters.

Two Comprehensive and Practical Methods for Simulating Pan Evaporation under Different Climatic Conditions in Iran

Mohammad Hassan Dehghanipour et al.

Summary: Evaporation from surface water is crucial for water accounting, water resource management, and irrigation systems. This study developed two methods for simulating pan evaporation under different climatic conditions in Iran. The first method determined the best relationships for Iran's six climate types, while the second method calculated climatic correction coefficients for other climate types. Validation results confirmed the accuracy of the two methods across different climatic conditions in Iran.
