3-D Near-Field Source Localization Using a Spatially Spread Acoustic Vector Sensor

Ting Shu et al.

Summary: This article presents a new method for 3-D localization of an acoustic source signal by estimating its azimuth-angle, elevation-angle, and radial range. The proposed method exploits a spatially spread acoustic vector sensor and considering the path attenuation and phase difference among the sensor components, a source location estimation method without resorting to self-normalization operation is derived.

Channel Parameter Estimation of mmWave MIMO System in Urban Traffic Scene: A Training Channel-Based Method

Han Wang et al.

Summary: In frequency selective channel environments, channel estimation in hybrid precoding millimeter-wave massive MIMO systems is challenging. This paper proposes an effective channel estimation scheme based on a training channel model in an urban traffic environment. By treating the channel estimation problem as sparse channel recovery and using a multipath simultaneous matching tracking estimation method, our proposed method achieves better performance in frequency selective mmWave MIMO channels.

Multichannel adaptive signal detection: basic theory and literature review

Weijian Liu et al.

Summary: Multichannel adaptive signal detection uses test and training data jointly to form an adaptive detector to determine the presence or absence of a target. These adaptive detectors possess constant false alarm rate properties and do not require additional processing. Compared to the filtering-then-CFAR technique, adaptive detection typically exhibits better performance. However, there are few overview articles on this topic, hence this study provides a tutorial overview specifically focusing on Gaussian background and covers various aspects.

Generalized spatial smoothing in bistatic EMVS-MIMO radar

Fangqing Wen et al.

Summary: This paper revisits the problem of multiple parameters estimation for coherent targets in bistatic EMVS-MIMO radar. Three generalized spatial smoothing estimators are proposed, which are capable of providing polarization information of the coherent targets without sacrificing it. These estimators do not require any constrain on the geometries of the Tx/Rx EMVS arrays and are computationally friendly yet retain robustness to the sensor position error.

On Parameter Identifiability of Diversity-Smoothing-Based MIMO Radar

Junpeng Shi et al.

Summary: This article investigates the parameter identifiability issue in angle estimation using diversity smoothing in MIMO radar. By introducing interelement spacings, a complete parameter identifiability scheme is proposed, and the antenna numbers and interelement spacings of transmit and receive arrays are derived as functions of the target number and target structure. Optimization models are built to calculate the maximum number of detectable targets for a given target structure.

Mixed Near-Field and Far-Field Localization and Array Calibration With Partly Calibrated Arrays

Jin He et al.

Summary: This study addresses the problem of passive localization of mixed near-field and far-field source signals in the presence of array gain-phase uncertainties. A new algorithm using partly calibrated nonuniform linear arrays is proposed to accommodate a more general situation. The proposed algorithm defines cumulant matrices and constructs matrix pencils to obtain unambiguous range and angle estimates of the near-field sources, and then calibrates array gain-phase errors using these estimates. A spectrum-MUSIC like approach is applied to estimate the angles of the far-field sources.

Self-Position Awareness Based on Cascade Direct Localization Over Multiple Source Data

Jianfeng Li et al.

Summary: The global positioning system (GPS) provides ubiquitous location-awareness, but it may not be accurate enough for applications like autonomous vehicles due to obstacles in harsh environments. To address this issue, we propose a self-localization method that uses data fusion of signals from multiple known anchors. The method eliminates nonhomogeneity among different emitters and achieves accurate estimates of the vehicle position.

Traffic Target Location Estimation Based on Tensor Decomposition in Intelligent Transportation System

Yuehao Guo et al.

Summary: Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is introduced to address the safety problems and economic losses caused by traffic accidents. The developed scheme incorporates frequency diversity array multiple-input multiple-output (FDA-MIMO) radar and tensor decomposition to improve the real-time performance of target location estimation. By constructing a four-dimensional tensor and using parallel factor (PARAFAC) decomposition to handle colored noise, as well as optimizing and using Lagrange multiplier to address array gain-phase error, this scheme can efficiently obtain the location information of motor vehicles.
