A New Approach to Homogenize Global Subdaily Radiosonde Temperature Data from 1958 to 2018

Chunlue Zhou et al.

Summary: This study develops an innovative method to homogenize discontinuities in mean and variance in global subdaily radiosonde temperature data. The research reveals numerous significant spurious changes in radiosonde records and suggests that national radiosonde network changes may affect the changepoints.

Refining the empirical global pressure and temperature model with the ERA5 reanalysis and radiosonde data

Tao Li et al.

Summary: The improved global pressure and temperature model (IGPT) effectively captures the diurnal and semidiurnal patterns as well as seasonal variations in global pressure and temperature signals, achieving significant improvements in accuracy compared to the GPT3 model. By assimilating radiosonde data, the IGPT model extends its feasibility up to 15 km above the earth's surface and significantly enhances the computational accuracy of GNSS zenith troposphere delay (ZTD) products.

Precipitable water vapor fusion based on a generalized regression neural network

Bao Zhang et al.

Summary: Water vapor is crucial in Earth's weather and climate processes. This study proposes using a generalized regression neural network (GRNN) to combine PWVs from GNSS, MODIS, and ERA5, resulting in significantly improved accuracy for MODIS and ERA5 PWVs. The proposed method reduces biases and enhances data accuracy, allowing for easier fusion and joint use of the three datasets.

Long-term variability and trends of precipitable water vapour derived from GPS tropospheric path delays over the Eastern Mediterranean

Shlomi Ziskin Ziv et al.

Summary: The PWV data of 21 GNSS ground receivers in the Eastern Mediterranean region were studied, revealing that the PWV monthly mean values peak in September-October with the highest variability, while reaching the minimum level in February-March with the least variability. The variability of PWV decreases with station height. The consistent PWV anomalies among all stations suggest a common regional driver, while the long-term analysis shows an accelerated moistening trend in the Eastern Mediterranean region recently.
