Inversion and distribution of total suspended matter in water based on remote sensing images-A case study on Yuqiao Reservoir, China

Hongye Cao et al.

Summary: This paper focuses on the Yuqiao Reservoir and uses satellite remote sensing technology to study the temporal and spatial variations of TSM, developing a new empirical model to estimate TSM concentrations in the reservoir waters for the first time. Results show clear patterns in the spatial distribution of TSM and significant seasonal and monthly variations. The research findings can be applied to similar water bodies and contribute to the scientific management of safe operation in the study area.

Spatial variability-based sample size allocation for stratified sampling

Shuangshuang Shao et al.

Summary: Stratified sampling is commonly used in soil survey and mapping, with sample size allocation being a key issue. This study introduced a new stratified spatial sampling allocation approach (SVNA) based on spatial variability, which outperformed Neyman allocation in predicting soil organic matter content. SVNA showed better prediction accuracy in strata with larger spatial variability of the target variable.

Inland Reservoir Water Quality Inversion and Eutrophication Evaluation Using BP Neural Network and Remote Sensing Imagery: A Case Study of Dashahe Reservoir

Yanhu He et al.

Summary: This study developed an inversion model for water quality parameters in inland reservoirs using a BP neural network, and evaluated reservoir eutrophication. The BP inversion model outperformed linear inversion models for Chl-a and CODMn, indicating the influence of nutrient salts in reservoir inflow. The reservoir was found to be in a state of mesotrophication and light eutrophication, with higher proportions of light eutrophication in spring and autumn.

Optimal sampling strategy of water quality monitoring at high dynamic lakes: A remote sensing and spatial simulated annealing integrated approach

Jian Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposed an optimal sampling strategy using remote sensing big data and spatial sampling annealing integrated approach to optimize sampling design by minimizing spatial-temporal mean estimation error. Results showed that the RS + SSA sampling approach is superior to conventional sampling methods in improving spatial and temporal sampling accuracy.

Remote Sensing-Guided Spatial Sampling Strategy over Heterogeneous Surface Ground for Validation of Vegetation Indices Products with Medium and High Spatial Resolution

Tingting Lv et al.

Summary: Remote sensing-derived vegetation indices with medium and high spatial resolution are becoming a promising dataset for ecosystem modeling and agricultural monitoring. This study proposes an integrative stratified sampling strategy based on NDVI data, which outperforms other methods in stability and accuracy. The INTEG-STRAT method requires fewer samples to achieve stability and demonstrates higher accuracy compared to other sampling strategies.
