Transparent Bamboo with High Radiative Cooling Targeting Energy Savings

Chengzhi Zhou et al.

Summary: A bamboo-derived composite with enhanced radiative cooling was fabricated through a simple solution-based process, with one side having a low long-wavelength infrared emissivity (ε(LWIR)) of 0.3 to prevent heat exchange, and the other side near unity (0.95) to promote radiative cooling. Energy saving simulations in Singapore showed up to 89% energy savings enhancement compared to commercial low-E glass.
