Application of the optical spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction methods for determining the effect of irradiation of the LR-115 type 2 track detector

D. Yerimbetova et al.

Summary: This work evaluates the use of optical spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction methods to determine the dose dependence of solid-state nuclear track detectors based on polymer films. The study found that changes in exposure time led to changes in optical density and structural parameters, with the latter being more severe in shorter exposure times. The differences in structural and optical properties were attributed to the different mechanisms of energy losses of incident particles.

Assessment of the Irradiation Exposure of PET Film with Swift Heavy Ions Using the Interference-Free Transmission UV-Vis Transmission Spectra

Adil Z. Tuleushev et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of irradiation on PET films by different ions, showing that the radiation fluence impacts light absorption by PET films and the charge of irradiating ions influences the position of the absorption edge in UV-vis spectra.

Radon alpha track counting on solid state nuclear track detector by an ImageJ-based software macro

S. Frutos-Puerto et al.

Summary: A simple, fast and low-cost image acquisition system was proposed for determining Rn-222 alpha tracks in chemically etched CR-39 solid-state nuclear track detectors. Results showed a high correlation coefficient and excellent repeatability compared to the commercial instrument Radosys microscopy system.

Study of the radiation disordering mechanisms of AlN ceramic structure as a result of helium swelling

A. L. Kozlovskiy et al.

Summary: Using X-ray diffraction patterns, the study investigated the effects of helium swelling on the crystal structure of aluminum nitride ceramics, revealing distortions in crystallite shape and crystal lattice deformation at higher radiation doses, leading to the formation of helium bubbles and surface degradation. The results showed that the critical radiation doses causing irreversible structural deformations are 5-7 x 10(17) ions/cm(2).
