Synthesis, characterization of novel coumarin dyes as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel in acidic environment: Experimental, theoretical, and biological studies

Hani M. Elaryian et al.

Summary: The new azo acetyl coumarin derivatives were synthesized, characterized, and found to have strong corrosion inhibition properties in 1.0 M HCl. The adsorption phenomenon and Langmuir adsorption isotherm were confirmed, indicating the formation of an effective blocking layer to control the corrosion process.

Degradation of a schiff-base corrosion inhibitor by hydrolysis, and its effects on the inhibition efficiency for steel in hydrochloric acid

Evgeny Barmatov et al.

Summary: Schiff bases hydrolyze in aqueous solution due to the instability of the imine group. The inhibition imparted by Schiff base may be attributed to its hydrolysis products under acid conditions. A derivative of Schiff base obtained by reduction shows higher corrosion inhibition efficiency and is not degraded by hydrolysis.

Synthesis, characterization, thermal stability, electrochemical behavior, and antioxidant activity of new oxovanadium(iv) and iron(ii) tetradentate Schiff base complexes

Nadjah Maghraoui et al.

Summary: Two new tetradentate oxovanadium(IV) and iron(II) Schiff base complexes were prepared and characterized using various spectroscopic techniques. The thermal stability and decomposition mechanism of these complexes were investigated through thermogravimetric analysis. Additionally, cyclic voltammetry was employed to examine the electrochemical behavior, and antioxidant activity was evaluated using a DPPH free radical scavenging assay, showing good antioxidant activity for the oxovanadium Schiff base complex.
