The prevalence of loneliness across 113 countries: systematic review and meta-analysis

Daniel L. Surkalim et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to identify the prevalence of loneliness globally. It found that problematic levels of loneliness are experienced by a substantial proportion of the population in many countries. There is a significant difference in data availability between high income countries (particularly Europe) and low and middle income countries, highlighting an important equity issue. More research is needed on the temporal trends of loneliness.
