Effects of different concentrations of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells to ameliorate psoriasis-like skin lesions in BALB/c mice

Youshu Lin et al.

Summary: The study found that human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) had a significant therapeutic effect on psoriasis in a mouse model. Higher concentrations of hUC-MSCs showed the best therapeutic effect.

Human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells ameliorate psoriasis-like dermatitis by suppressing IL-17-producing γδ T cells

Youdong Chen et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that human umbilical cord-derived MSCs (hUC-MSCs) have the potential to effectively treat psoriasis due to their immunomodulatory capability. Subcutaneous injection of 2 million hUC-MSCs was identified as the optimal therapeutic strategy. Furthermore, hUC-MSCs may suppress skin inflammation by inhibiting interleukin-17-producing gamma delta T cells.

Skin Barrier Dysregulation in Psoriasis

Andreas Orsmond et al.

Summary: The skin barrier consists of a physical barrier in the epidermis and an immune barrier in both dermis and epidermis, which cooperate to maintain skin homeostasis and human health. Dysregulation can lead to various skin diseases, with psoriasis being one of the most prevalent due to disrupted barrier function. Recent research has focused on understanding disease pathogenesis involving keratinocytes, immune cells, genetic and environmental factors, and advancements in current and future treatments.

Conditioned Medium of Human Amniotic Epithelial Cells Alleviates Experimental Allergic Conjunctivitis Mainly by IL-1ra and IL-10

Binxin Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that human amniotic epithelial cell-conditioned medium (AECM) significantly alleviated symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis, reduced infiltration of immune cells and levels of inflammatory factors in the conjunctiva, and increased levels of anti-inflammatory factors IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1ra) and IL-10. The anti-allergic effects of AECM were mainly mediated by IL-1ra and IL-10, showing promise as a novel therapeutic strategy for treating allergic conjunctivitis.

Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells as a valuable source for the treatment of immune-mediated disorders

Alexander Markov et al.

Summary: MSCs, with their various chararcteristics and ability to differentiate into multiple cell types, possess a secretome that can modulate inflammatory responses and promote tissue repair/regeneration. Their immunomodulatory effects are achieved through the harmonious interaction of released signaling molecules and immune/target cells, making them potential therapeutic candidates for immune-mediated disorders.

Human Amniotic Epithelial Cells Alleviate a Mouse Model of Parkinson's Disease Mainly by Neuroprotective, Anti-Oxidative and Anti-Inflammatory Factors

Jiaofei Zhang et al.

Summary: The study explores the molecular mechanism by which hAECs ameliorate Parkinson's disease symptoms, including promoting the growth of damaged dopaminergic neurons and neurites through secretion of neurotrophic factors, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory factors. In addition, hAECs reduce microglial activation and neuroinflammation while decreasing excessive reactive oxygen species levels through upregulation of anti-oxidative signals.
