Effects of congested fixture and matches' participation on internal and external workload indices in professional soccer players

Gabriel Rodrigues Garcia et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of fixture congestion and matches' participation on workload indexes in professional Brazilian soccer players. The results showed that regular weeks had higher workload indexes than congested weeks. Additionally, players in the G1 group had the highest workload indexes regardless of the match participation.

Weekly Variations of Short-Duration Maximal Jumping Performance in Soccer Players: Exploring Relationships With Accumulated Training Load and Match Demands

Rui Silva et al.

Summary: The study revealed that accumulated training load has a significant impact on short-duration maximal jumping performance in professional soccer players, while match load does not. Furthermore, metrics related to high metabolic load, accelerations, decelerations, and total distance are the best predictors of changes in jumping performance.
