Influence of pyrolysis temperature on the characteristics and lead(II) adsorption capacity of phosphorus-engineered poplar sawdust biochar

Yonggang Xu et al.

Summary: Phosphorus-engineered biochars (BCP) were prepared by co-pyrolysis of poplar sawdust and monopotassium phosphate to enhance lead (II) adsorption. The addition of phosphorus increased the adsorption capacity of biochar but decreased the porous structure, affecting the surface area.

Characteristics, adsorption behaviors, Cu(II) adsorption mechanisms by cow manure biochar derived at various pyrolysis temperatures

Peizhen Zhang et al.

Summary: The study found that CMBCs mainly adsorb Cu(II) through chemical adsorption, including mineral co-precipitation and cations exchange, with a significant positive correlation with ash content and cations exchange capacity. Furthermore, there are quantitative relationships between adsorption behaviors at different pyrolysis temperatures.

Pyrolysis temperature affects pore characteristics of rice straw and canola stalk biochars and biochar-amended soils

Caidi Yang et al.

Summary: The pore characteristics of biochar are affected by the feedstocks and pyrolysis temperature, resulting in varying effects on soil pore properties. Biochar addition alters soil pore size distribution, with different types of biochar impacting soil properties differently. The meso- and micropores in biochars play a crucial role in affecting soil response, with a pyrolysis temperature around 450 degrees Celsius being optimal for producing porous biochar with larger porosity.

Optimization of biochar production based on environmental risk and remediation performance: Take kitchen waste for example

Congbin Xu et al.

Summary: This study optimized the production conditions of biochar using kitchen waste to reduce heavy metal risk and enhance remediation performance towards Cd(II) pollutants. The results showed that pyrolysis temperature significantly affected the properties of biochar, with KWB pyrolyzed at 500 degrees Celsius found to be the most suitable for Cd(II) contaminated water remediation.
