A novel approach to intra-individual performance variability in ADHD

Annet Bluschke et al.

Summary: Patients with AD(H)D show increased intra-individual variability in behavioral performance, likely reflecting dopaminergic deficiencies. Differences in performance between healthy controls and AD(H)D patients do not persist continuously over longer time periods, alternating with periods of no differences. Medication status and subtype do not affect this performance pattern. The findings suggest phasic deficiencies in the dopaminergic system of AD(H)D patients, not sufficiently ameliorated by first-line pharmacological treatment, with important clinical and scientific implications.

Peripheral biomarkers of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder: Current status and future perspective

Nagahide Takahashi et al.

Summary: ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. While there are currently no clinically reliable biomarkers for diagnosis, several potential candidate biomarkers have been proposed based on recent advances in biochemistry and molecular biology. These potential biomarkers include biochemical markers, genetic and epigenetic markers, and physiological markers.
