Lactiplantibacillus plantarum dfa1 Outperforms Enterococcus faecium dfa1 on Anti-Obesity in High Fat-Induced Obesity Mice Possibly through the Differences in Gut Dysbiosis Attenuation, despite the Similar Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Thunnicha Ondee et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the potential of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Enterococcus faecium as probiotics with anti-obesity and anti-inflammatory properties. L. plantarum dfa1 outperformed E. faecium dfa1 in reducing obesity-related factors, such as body weight and serum cholesterol, and showed a reduction in pathogenic Proteobacteria. The probiotics' condition media had anti-inflammatory effects on intestinal cells and macrophages.

More Prominent Inflammatory Response to Pachyman than to Whole-Glucan Particle and Oat-β-Glucans in Dextran Sulfate-Induced Mucositis Mice and Mouse Injection through Proinflammatory Macrophages

Pratsanee Hiengrach et al.

Summary: Different forms of β-D-glucans have varying effects, with Pachyman demonstrating the highest serum cytokine elicitation and WGP showing a synergistic effect with LPS in macrophages. The interaction between Dectin-1 and TLR-4 signal transduction pathways may play a role in these effects.

Blood Bacteria-Free DNA in Septic Mice Enhances LPS-Induced Inflammation in Mice through Macrophage Response

Warerat Kaewduangduen et al.

Summary: Bacteria-free DNA in sepsis mice is partly derived from gut translocation, influencing systemic inflammation and exacerbating sepsis severity. Inhibition of TLR-9 can attenuate the effects of bacterial DNA in macrophages, potentially improving sepsis hyper-inflammation in some cases.

Pulmonary and intestinal microbiota dynamics during Gram-negative pneumonia-derived sepsis

Nora S. Wolff et al.

Summary: The study found that after Klebsiella pneumoniae infection, there were changes in lung microbiota composition, leading to severe inflammatory response. The oral microbiota in mice was not affected during the infection, while the gut microbiota contributed to the lung microbiota in the early stages but decreased later on.

Candida Administration Worsens Uremia-Induced Gut Leakage in Bilateral Nephrectomy Mice, an Impact of Gut Fungi and Organismal Molecules in Uremia

Wimonrat Panpetch et al.

Summary: The impact of gut fungi and (1 -> 3)-beta-D-glucan (BG) on uremia was explored by orally administering Candida albicans in mice with bilateral nephrectomy. The study found that Candida worsened intestinal injury and altered gut microbiota in the mice, resulting in the presence of bacteria, endotoxin, and glucan in the bloodstream.

Cong Phi Dang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that BAM15 attenuated inflammation in sepsis by interfering with immunometabolism in macrophages and hepatocytes, leading to downregulation of proinflammatory genes and upregulation of anti-inflammatory genes. Additionally, BAM15 reduced cell energy and organ injury while enhancing phosphorylated alpha AMPK in the liver to mitigate inflammation.

Summary: The study explores the impact of gut bacteria and fungi components on lupus severity through inducing neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). Particularly, in Fc gamma receptor IIB deficient mice, there was more prominent formation of colonic NETs, possibly due to stronger responses against LPS and BG.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus attenuates Thai chili extracts induced gut inflammation and dysbiosis despite capsaicin bactericidal effect against the probiotics, a possible toxicity of high dose capsaicin

Wimonrat Panpetch et al.

Summary: This study found that high concentrations of capsaicin have a damaging effect on the intestines, but probiotic strains of Lactobacillus rhamnosus from Thai and Caucasian populations can mitigate this damage, although they do not improve fecal consistency. Furthermore, L34 showed better tolerance to capsaicin, but the abundance of both strains in feces of healthy volunteers was similar.
