Adsorption of Chromate Ions by Layered Double Hydroxide-Bentonite Nanocomposite for Groundwater Remediation

Yoogyeong Kim et al.

Summary: In this study, magnesium/aluminum-layered double hydroxide (MgAl-LDH) and bentonite (BT) nanocomposites (LDH-BT) were prepared using different methods and their chromate adsorption performance was investigated. The results showed that the LDH-BT composites prepared by solid-phase hybridization exhibited high chromate removal efficiency, with a positive relationship between the LDH ratio and chromate removal efficiency. It was confirmed that LDH-BT is a practical nanocomposite for soil and groundwater remediation.

Synthesis and Characterization of Modified Kaolin-Bentonite Composites for Enhanced Fluoride Removal from Drinking Water

Ebenezer Annan et al.

Summary: This study successfully removed fluoride from drinking water using kaolin-bentonite composite adsorbents (KBNPs), with a significantly higher fluoride removal efficiency compared to composites without nanoparticles. By analyzing the characterization of the adsorbents and discussing the adsorption mechanisms, it was found that KBNPs can effectively remove fluoride from drinking water.

Raphia-Microorganism Composite Biosorbent for Lead Ion Removal from Aqueous Solutions

Pawel Staron et al.

Summary: This study focused on obtaining a raphia-microorganism composite for lead ion removal from water solutions. The biocomposite showed higher removal capacity than raphia fibers alone, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 94.8 mg/g. Modeling indicated that the Temkin isotherm model best described the lead ion sorption, while kinetic studies supported the chemical nature of the sorption process.
