Influence of the nitrogen pots from graphitic carbon nitride with the presence of wrinkled silica-titania for photodegradation enhancement of 2-chlorophenol

M. S. Azami et al.

Summary: An interlayer structure hybrid wrinkled silica titania (WST) loaded on graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) was successfully constructed using a facile microwave-assisted solid-state technique. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated, and the 10 wt% WST@CN exhibited the best performance due to its hidden morphology between the layers of g-C3N4, leading to enhanced charge separation efficiency. This study is significant for improving visible light-driven photocatalytic performance.

Facile synthesis of Fe3O4/ZnO/GO photocatalysts for decolorization of acid blue 113 under solar, visible and UV lights

Murat Yilmaz et al.

Summary: The Fe3O4/ZnO/GO magnetic photocatalyst was successfully synthesized and showed significant photocatalytic activity in the degradation of acid blue 113 dye under visible light. The synthesized catalyst maintained its efficiency after multiple recycling runs due to its magnetization. UV radiation for 50 minutes resulted in complete removal of the dye, while visible radiation achieved complete removal in 120 minutes.

Precise regulation of Ultra-thin platinum decorated Gold/Graphite carbon nitride photocatalysts by atomic layer deposition for efficient degradation of Rhodamine B under simulated sunlight

Hongfen Zhang et al.

Summary: Precisely controlled ultra-thin platinum modified graphite carbon nitride photocatalysts were successfully synthesized using atomic layer deposition (ALD). The photocatalysts, doped with gold nanoparticles by photodeposition, exhibited excellent photocatalytic degradation ability for Rhodamine B under simulated sunlight irradiation. The main active species in the photocatalytic process were found to be & BULL;O2-, and the enhanced photocatalytic performances were attributed to the local surface plasmon resonance of gold nanoparticles and the Schottky barrier between platinum clusters and graphite carbon nitride. The photocatalyst also showed excellent stability in successive catalytic cycles.

Titanium Dioxide/Polysiloxane Composites: Preparation, Characterization and Study of Their Color Stability Using Thermochromic Pigments

Evangelia Papachristou et al.

Summary: This study examined the incorporation of titania nanoparticles and thermochromic pigments into polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to enhance its thermomechanical, antibacterial, and temperature-controlled color-response performance in maxillofacial prostheses. The results showed that the addition of titania improved the thermal stability and tensile properties of PDMS. The nanocomposites exhibited antibacterial activity against Escherichia Coli, and the specimens colored with thermochromic pigments showed significant color change at lower temperatures. However, the color stability of the PDMS colored with thermochromic pigments was poor under UV radiation and damp heating. The addition of titania had a positive effect on the color stability of the thermochromic pigment in PDMS.

Facile ball-milling synthesis of CeO2/g-C3N4 Z-scheme heterojunction for synergistic adsorption and photodegradation of methylene blue: Characteristics, kinetics, models, and mechanisms

Xiaoqian Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, novel Z-scheme heterojunction CeO2/g-C3N4 nanocomposites were synthesized by ball milling, showing enhanced photocatalytic activity in comparison to individual CeO2 and g-C3N4. The synergistic interaction between adsorption and photodegradation was investigated, revealing a strong positive correlation and providing insights into the synergy between the two processes. This work not only offers a facile synthesis method for Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts, but also a new perspective for better understanding their combined effects.

Summary: In this study, Santa Barbara Amorphous (SBA-15) containing iron oxide with sucrose modification was successfully synthesized for the degradation of methylene blue. Various characterization techniques revealed that sucrose-modified Fe2O3/SBA-15 showed relatively lower catalytic degradation efficiency, possibly due to partial decomposition caused by sucrose modification and pore blocking.
