Simulation of EOM-based frequency-chirped laser slowing of MgF radicals

Kang Yan et al.

Summary: This study proposes a scheme to slow down MgF molecules using EOM-based frequency-chirped radiation pressure slowing. The scheme compensates for the rapidly changing Doppler shifts caused by the movement of molecules and covers the hyperfine energy structure of MgF. The study shows that it is possible to slow down a cryogenic buffer gas-cooled MgF beam source with a speed of around 1.4 x 10^6-10^7 molecules, and the final forward speed peaks at around 10 m/s near the capture velocity of a molecular MOT.

Laser cooling with adiabatic passage for type-II transitions

Qian Liang et al.

Summary: By decomposing the multi-level system with a magnetic field, this scheme allows for multiple photon momentum transfer, leading to a better cooling effect on molecules and a reduced dependence on spontaneous emission. This approach shows feasibility for laser cooling of polar molecules.

Deceleration and Trapping of SrF Molecules

P. Aggarwal et al.

Summary: This work reports on the electrostatic trapping of neutral SrF molecules, showing significant progress in the deceleration and trapping of these molecules. The ability to trap heavy molecules such as SrF opens up new possibilities for studying physics beyond the standard model and extends the potential applications of slow beams in collision studies, precision measurement, and trapping experiments.

Molecular collisions: From near-cold to ultra-cold

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: In recent years, there has been a significant increase in interest in molecular collisions, largely due to advances in experimental capabilities and theoretical methods allowing for in-depth exploration of molecular collisions at the quantum mechanical limit. Significant experimental progress has already been achieved in the field, with researchers providing a review of these studies and exploring the nature of molecular collisions occurring at temperatures ranging from Kelvin to nanoKelvin, as well as applications for producing ultracold molecules.
