Mechanical response of double-stranded DNA to dynamic excitation

Hamze Mousavi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the vibrational properties of a DNA-like structure using a harmonic Hamiltonian and the Green's function formalism. The DNA sequence is treated as a quasi one-dimensional system with randomly distributed mass-spring pairs in each crystalline unit. The results show that increasing the number of mass-spring pairs in the crystalline structure decreases the influence of randomness on the mechanical behavior of the structure.

Vibrational properties of DNA in different models

Hamze Mousavi et al.

Summary: The mechanical behavior of DNA-like structures was studied using three different models, showing that increasing the number of building blocks can reduce the impact of randomness on vibration responses. One of the models stood out from the other two by lacking a large gap in the vibration curve, demonstrating a different response to mechanical excitations.

Summary: The electronic properties of conjugated polymer systems were investigated using a tight-binding method. Variations in bandgap sizes and localized states were observed, with the presence of van-Hove singularities causing anomalies in heat capacity and magnetic susceptibility.
