Optimization of removal of lead and cadmium from industrial wastewater by ethylenediamine-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes

E. M. Fard et al.

Summary: The study focused on the adsorption of lead and cadmium in wastewater using ethylenediamine-surface-modified single-walled carbon nanotubes (EDA-SWCNTs). The optimization results showed that the most important factors influencing the adsorption process were the initial concentration of lead and cadmium, CNT dosage, time, and pH. The equilibrium isotherm study indicated a good conformity with the Langmuir model, suggesting a monolayer homogeneous adsorption of lead and cadmium onto carbon nanotubes.

Adsorptive scavenging of cationic dyes from aquatic phase by H3PO4 activated Indian jujube (Ziziphus mauritiana) seeds based activated carbon: Isotherm, kinetics, and thermodynamic study

Tabrez Alam Khan et al.

Summary: In this study, a cost-effective Indian jujube seeds derived activated carbon (IJSAC) was used for the removal of acriflavine (AF) and Victoria blue B (VB) from the aquatic environment. The IJSAC showed a high surface area and mesoporous structure, making it suitable for dye adsorption. The optimal conditions for adsorption were determined and the adsorption process was analyzed kinetically and thermodynamically. The results demonstrated that IJSAC is an efficient adsorbent for the removal of cationic dyes.

Lead and cadmium clean removal from wastewater by sustainable biochar derived from poplar saw dust

Song Cheng et al.

Summary: Biochar produced from pyrolysis of poplar saw dust is used as a sustainable adsorbent for investigating the adsorption of Pb2+/Cd2+ from wastewater. The adsorption of Cd2+ is inhibited in different water systems, while the uptake of Pb2+ remains unaffected. Mineral precipitation and coordination with 7C electrons are identified as the main mechanisms for Pb2+ and Cd2+ adsorption, respectively.
