Machine Learning Guided Dopant Selection for Metal Oxide-Based Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting: The Case Study of Fe2O3 and CuO

Zhiliang Wang et al.

Summary: By using a machine learning model, the authors successfully predicted the doping effect of metal dopants into hematite and identified critical parameters. The model was further validated experimentally and suggested that the chemical state, metal-oxygen bond formation enthalpy, and ionic radius are important factors for improving charge separation and transfer. The ML-guided selection criteria were also extended to copper oxide-based photoelectrodes, resulting in improved charge separation and transfer.

Structure, synthesis, properties and solid oxide electrolysis cells application of Ba(Ce, Zr)O3 based proton conducting materials

Junmeng Jing et al.

Summary: Ba(Ce, Zr)O3 based proton-conducting oxides have attracted attention for their potential applications in H+-SOECs, showing lower activation energy and higher proton transfer properties compared to oxygen ion conductor perovskite oxides. Current research focuses on modification strategies, such as enhancing conductivity and chemical stability through the substitution of the B-site element, to improve the performance of H+-SOECs. Further attention should be given to current leakage, performance, and long-term stability of H+-SOECs in future studies.

Electrokinetic Proton Transport in Triple (H+/O2-/e-) Conducting Oxides as a Key Descriptor for Highly Efficient Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells

Arim Seong et al.

Summary: Triple conducting oxides (TCOs) have shown great potential in energy conversion and storage applications, and understanding their proton movement remains a challenge. This study utilized the isotope exchange diffusion profile method to evaluate proton kinetic properties in the layered perovskite-type TCO PBSCF, revealing significantly higher proton diffusion coefficient compared to oxygen at elevated temperatures. The research provides an innovative way to quantify proton kinetic properties in TCOs, which is crucial for understanding their electrochemical behavior and electrode reaction mechanisms.
