Heteroatom-Embedded Approach to Vinylene-Linked Covalent Organic Frameworks with Isoelectronic Structures for Photoredox Catalysis

Shuai Bi et al.

Summary: The researchers have successfully achieved a two-dimensional oxonium-embedded COF with vinylene linkages and converted it to a neutral pyridine-cored COF through ammonia treatment. These two heteroatom-embedded COFs, while featuring similar geometric structures, exhibit different electronic structures, and are capable of catalyzing multi-component synthesis with good recyclability.

Porphyrin and phthalocyanine based covalent organic frameworks for electrocatalysis

Shengsheng Huang et al.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a rapidly growing class of crystalline porous polymers that have a wide range of applications due to their unique features. By incorporating porphyrin (Por-) and phthalocyanine (Pc-) building units into COFs, they acquire unique structural characteristics and excellent optical and electrical properties. Recent progress has been made in the rational design and construction of Por- and Pc-based COFs for electrocatalytic water splitting, CO2 reduction, and oxygen reduction. This article provides a summary of the synthetic strategies of Por- and Pc-based COFs, an overview of their applications in electrocatalytic reactions, and discusses the current challenges and directions for further development.
