Conversion of CO2 to methanol over bifunctional basic-metallic catalysts

Summary: Amine functionalized silica combined with Pd is an excellent sorbent for selectively hydrogenating CO2 to methanol at low pressure, achieving up to 25% conversion by dynamically switching temperatures. The reaction proceeds via carbamates formation and gradual reduction to methanol on sites located at the interface between the amine and Pd particles, as observed by IR spectroscopy.
