Transition to invasive breast cancer is associated with progressive changes in the structure and composition of tumor stroma

Tyler Risom et al.

Summary: This study used MIBI-TOF and antibody staining methods to analyze the changes in the tumor microenvironment (TME) between DCIS and IBC. Four coordinated transitions between TME states were identified. The study also found that myoepithelial disruption was more advanced in DCIS patients who did not develop IBC, suggesting a potential protective effect against recurrence.

CAMK2N1/RUNX3 methylation is an independent prognostic biomarker for progression-free and overall survival of platinum-sensitive epithelial ovarian cancer patients

Karolin Heinze et al.

Summary: The study identified a significant prognostic value of the marker combination CAMK2N1/RUNX3 in sporadic platinum-sensitive EOC patients for both progression-free and overall survival. KRT86 methylation may serve as a marker for EOC staging, while the prognostic value of KATNAL2 methylation differed depending on BRCA aberrations. Further validation in larger sample sets is needed for KATNAL2's prognostic value in EOC.

The NFIB-ERO1A axis promotes breast cancer metastatic colonization of disseminated tumour cells

Federica Zilli et al.

Summary: NFIB is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in promoting primary mammary tumor growth and lung metastatic colonization by increasing the expression of ERO1A. Its high expression is associated with poor prognosis in basal-like breast cancer patients.

The cancer-associated fibroblasts related gene CALD1 is a prognostic biomarker and correlated with immune infiltration in bladder cancer

YiHeng Du et al.

Summary: This study confirmed the cancer-promoting roles of CAFs in bladder cancer, with CALD1 identified as a key gene associated with CAFs that may promote bladder cancer progression by remodeling the tumor microenvironment. Bioinformatics methods such as CIBERSORT, MCP-COUNTER, and ESTIMATE algorithms provide important value for studying the tumor microenvironment, showing significant correlations between CALD1 and various components. Immunohistochemistry results validated the strong association of CALD1 with CAFs and macrophages.
