An Artificial Spiking Afferen Neuron System Achieved by 1M1S for Neuromorphic Computing

Sheng Li Fang et al.

Summary: This work presents an ASAN system with a simple structure using a new architecture of one VO2 Mott memristor and one resistive sensor (1M1S). By incorporating a flexible pressure sensor into the 1M1S architecture, a tactile ASAN system is realized with pressure stimuli converted into rate-coded spikes. Using a 3 x 3 array of the tactile ASAN systems, different pressure stimulus patterns can be recognized effectively.

A Skin-Inspired Artificial Mechanoreceptor for Tactile Enhancement and Integration

Fanfan Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates an artificial mechanoreceptor by integrating a resistive pressure sensor and a volatile memristor, mimicking tactile sensation in natural skin and converting external mechanical stimuli into electrical spikes. Enhancement of tactile sensation is achieved by processing pulse frequency characteristics, and the artificial mechanoreceptor provides a simple and efficient strategy for constructing future bio-inspired electronic systems.

High Tuning Range Spiking 1R-1T VO2 Voltage-Controlled Oscillator for Integrated RF and Optical Sensing

Teodor Rosca et al.

Summary: In this study, a relaxation spiking oscillator architecture utilizing Vanadium Dioxide (VO2) thin film devices with ultra-high tuning range was proposed and experimentally validated. An analytical model was proposed and validated to connect output signal metrics to the intrinsic properties of the phase-change VO2 device. The experiments demonstrated the feasibility of using the spiking oscillator for highly linear sensing of RF and optical power with VO2 devices.
