Sensitive and Reproducible Mass Spectrometry-Compatible RP-UHPLC Analysis of Tricarboxylic Acid Cycle and Related Metabolites in Biological Fluids: Application to Human Urine

Kerri M. Smith et al.

Summary: The described method uses mixed-mode reversed-phase chromatography on a CSH Phenyl-Hexyl column for the analysis of organic acids, showing good resolution and retention time reproducibility. When applied to comparative metabolomic analysis of urine samples from healthy controls and breast cancer positive subjects, the method demonstrated excellent performance in distinguishing between the two groups.

Do children with solitary or hypofunctioning kidney have the same prevalence for masked hypertension?

Sibel Yel et al.

Summary: This study found that children with reduced nephron numbers may be at risk for masked hypertension. Children with solitary kidney or kidney hypofunction had significantly higher rates of nighttime hypertension compared to the control group, with correlations between salt intake, systolic blood pressure loads, and diastolic blood pressure loads.
