The Effect of Flat Flexible Versus Stable Supportive Shoes on Knee Osteoarthritis Symptoms A Randomized Trial

Kade L. Paterson et al.

Summary: After comparing flat flexible shoes with stable supportive shoes for knee osteoarthritis symptoms, the study found that stable supportive shoes were more effective in reducing walking pain, while flat flexible shoes did not show superiority in improving function. Additionally, some participants reported better knee-related quality of life and relief of ipsilateral hip pain while wearing stable supportive shoes.

Effect of High-Intensity Strength Training on Knee Pain and Knee Joint Compressive Forces Among Adults With Knee Osteoarthritis: The START Randomized Clinical Trial

Stephen P. Messier et al.

Summary: This randomized clinical trial involving 377 participants with knee osteoarthritis found that high-intensity strength training did not significantly improve knee pain or knee joint compressive forces compared to low-intensity strength training and attention control at 18 months. These findings do not support the use of high-intensity strength training over low-intensity strength training or attention control in adults with knee osteoarthritis.
