Epidemiological investigation and genetic characterization of porcine astrovirus genotypes 2 and 5 in Yunnan province, China

Keqing Ren et al.

Summary: Astroviruses are important causes of diarrhea in human infants and animals, with five porcine AstV genotypes identified globally. This study investigated the prevalence of PAstV-2 and PAstV-5 in pigs in Yunnan province, China, revealing high infection rates and coinfections with other viruses. Genomic analysis showed variations in the PAstV-2 sequences from Yunnan, highlighting the need for further research on PAstV infections.

Isolation and Characterization of Porcine Astrovirus 5 from a Classical Swine Fever Virus-Infected Specimen

Shijiang Mi et al.

Summary: This study reported the first successful isolation of a porcine astrovirus 5 (PAstV5) strain, as well as the coinfection mechanism of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and PAstV5 with CSFV, which significantly enhanced the replication of PAstV5 by suppressing interferon response.

NLRX1/FUNDC1/NIPSNAP1-2 axis regulates mitophagy and alleviates intestinal ischaemia/reperfusion injury

Shaoqin Li et al.

Summary: NLRX1 plays a key role in regulating mitophagy in intestinal ischaemic reperfusion (IR) injury, potentially serving as a therapeutic target for the condition. The activation of the NLRX1-FUNDC1-NIPSNAP1/NIPSNAP2 axis contributes to mitochondrial homeostasis and cell apoptosis, highlighting its significance in mitigating intestinal IR injury.

Phylogenetic Characteristics of Canine Parvovirus Type 2c Variant Endemic in Shanghai, China

Chengqian Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, a new CPV-2c variant in Shanghai, China was characterized at the genetic level, with the isolates showing typical amino acid residues and a divergence time estimated using phylogenetic analysis. The VP2 amino acid residues were found to be under strong selection pressure, indicating potential evolutionary changes in CPV-2c strains. This study contributes to understanding the phylogenetic characteristics of the current CPV-2c variant in Shanghai.

Comparative Analysis of Novel Strains of Porcine Astrovirus Type 3 in the USA

Franco Matias Ferreyra et al.

Summary: The study described the characterization of several novel PoAstV3 genomes, including untranslated regions, frameshifting signal, VPg, and conserved antigenic epitopes. The results indicated high conservation in the 5' UTR of PoAstV3, while the 3' UTR showed moderate conservation among strains, with alternative configurations including multiple putative protein binding sites and pseudoknots. Two conserved antigenic epitopes matching the 3' termini of VP27 of PoAstV3 USA strains were identified, which could facilitate the design of vaccine components and diagnostic assays to control PoAstV3-associated CNS disease outbreaks.

HCV Core Protein Induces Chemokine CCL2 and CXCL10 Expression Through NF-κB Signaling Pathway in Macrophages

Xiaotian Song et al.

Summary: The HCV core protein interacts with gC1qR and activates the MAPK, NF-kappa B, and PI3K/AKT pathways in macrophages. This interaction induces secretion of CCL2 and CXCL10 in macrophages through the NF-kappa B signaling pathway, providing insights into leukocyte migration into the liver and host-derived immune responses in HCV chronic inflammation.
