Selective flotation separation of polycarbonate from plastic mixtures based on Fenton treatment combined with ultrasonic

Wentian Li et al.

Summary: A novel surface modification method combining Fenton treatment and ultrasonic was proposed to selectively separate polycarbonate (PC) from acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and polyvinylchloride (PVC) through froth flotation. Under the optimum conditions, the recovery and purity of PC exceeded 97.97% and 99.18%, respectively. The introduction of oxygen-containing groups induced by surface modification made the PC surface more hydrophilic, facilitating its recycling.

Is froth flotation a potential scheme for microplastics removal? Analysis on flotation kinetics and surface characteristics

Yingshuang Zhang et al.

Summary: Froth flotation is a promising method for removing microplastics, especially those with higher density, larger size, and lower concentration. Ionic species like K+, Na+, and Ca2+ do not affect the flotation recovery of microplastics, while certain concentrations of humic acid and aluminum ions can efficiently remove them.
