A study on bearing characteristic and failure mechanism of thin-walled structure of a prefabricated subway station

Lianjin Tao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the bearing performance of a new type of prefabricated subway station structure (PSSS) through the establishment of a three-dimensional finite element model. The nonlinear mechanics, deformation performance, bearing mechanism, damages to thin-walled prefabricated components, and failure evolution mechanism of the PSSS are studied. The results show that the PSSS has good bearing capacity, with the top arch structure and tongue-and-groove joints playing important roles. The rigidity degradation caused by damages to specific components is identified as the main reason for the loss of bearing capacity. Furthermore, the existing thin-walled components design has significant advantages in weight reduction, concrete temperature control, hoisting, transportation and assembly construction, achieving a good balance between safety, usability, and economy.

Three-dimensional seismic performance analysis of large and complex underground pipe trench structure

Lianjin Tao et al.

Summary: A comprehensive seismic analysis method combining overall structure and key nodes was proposed to meet the seismic research requirements of large and complex underground pipe trench structure. The method significantly reduced the time of seismic analysis while ensuring accuracy and depth, providing a useful reference for similar large complex underground structures.

Summary: Tunnels suffer less seismic damage than surface structures during earthquakes, with most damage caused by adjacent ground failure or fault movement. Physical model experiments show that tunnels exhibit rocking responses under seismic excitation, with residual earth pressures and lining forces remaining after shaking.

A shaking table-based experimental study of seismic response of shield-enlarge-dig type's underground subway station in liquefiable ground

Junhai An et al.

Summary: The shaking table experiments conducted on shield-enlarge-dig type's subway station structure in liquefiable ground show that high intensity earthquakes can cause upward movement of the structure relative to the foundation due to differences in soil pressure. Acceleration response and amplification coefficient in the model foundation vary with earthquake intensity, with a notable phenomenon of high frequency filtering and low frequency amplification occurring during seismic wave propagation.
