Mechanical and two-body wear characterization of micro-nano ceramic particulate reinforced dental restorative composite materials

Ramkumar Yadav et al.

Summary: The investigation aims to develop resin-based dental restorative composite material reinforced with marble dust powder (MDP) - silane coated nano-hydroxyapatite (nHA) and study the effects on various characteristics. The study revealed that dental composite with 8 wt% nHA exhibited the highest hardness, compressive, and flexural strength. Water sorption and water solubility increased while the degree of conversion and depth of cure decreased with the increase in nHA content. Taguchi analysis identified that the dental composite with 6 wt% nano-hydroxyapatite under specific conditions exhibited the minimum wear rate. ANOVA analysis showed that the load factor had a considerable effect on the specific wear rate.

Fabrication and characterization of micro alumina zirconia particulate filled dental restorative composite materials

Anoj Meena et al.

Summary: Composite resin is increasingly utilized in cosmetic and restorative dentistry, with the addition of micro-alumina and zirconia particulates improving its physical and mechanical properties while reducing wear. The study found that normal load and filler content significantly affect the volumetric wear of dental composites, with AZDC6 showing the highest compressive strength. The research highlights the importance of optimizing these factors to enhance the performance of dental composite materials.

Tribological behavior of zinc oxide-hydroxyapatite particulates filled dental restorative composite materials

Ramkumar Yadav et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to examine the tribological behavior of micro-nano particulates filled dental restorative composite material. The study found that the specific-wear-rate decreased with the variation of load, while it increased with the variation of sliding velocity and time. The dental composite incorporated with 8 wt% nano-hydroxyapatite exhibited the minimum specific-wear-rate under specific conditions.
