Red-leafed species for urban greening in the age of global climate change

Ermes Lo Piccolo et al.

Summary: Urban trees play crucial roles in providing ecosystem services and aesthetic value, and the selection of tree species should consider their resilience to climate changes and abiotic stresses. Red-leafed species demonstrate greater tolerance and aesthetic value compared to green-leafed species, suggesting their potential for broader use in urban greening efforts.

Method for the Production and Purification of Plant Immuno-Active Xylanase from Trichoderma

Gautam Anand et al.

Summary: Plants lack a circulating adaptive immune system, instead relying on a complex and efficient innate immune system based on defense mechanisms triggered by elicitors such as microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs). The fungal MAMP protein Ethylene Inducing Xylanase (EIX) from Trichoderma is a useful tool for studying plant immunity, eliciting defense responses in tobacco and tomato. Xylanases like EIX, hydrolytic enzymes mainly synthesized by fungi, play a role in xylan breakdown and can effectively induce plant defense responses.

Use of Trichoderma koningiopsis chitinase to enhance the insecticidal activity of Beauveria bassiana against Diatraea saccharalis

Cindy Mejia et al.

Summary: This study focused on recovering chitinase from fermentation waste of Trichoderma and using it to enhance Beauveria bassiana's insecticidal activity against Diatraea saccharalis. The chitinase obtained from Trichoderma was found to significantly reduce the lethal time of Beauveria bassiana, adding value to waste from the Trichoderma biopesticide/biofertilizer industries.
