Photocatalysis driven by visible light has played an important role in the removal of heavy metals from the environment. In this study, Cd-3(TMT)(2)/CdS heterojunction composite photocatalysts were successfully prepared and exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic performance for Cr(VI) under visible light irradiation, showing potential for application.
As an efficient and sustainable technology, photocatalysis driven by visible light has made great contributions to the removal of heavy metals from environment. In this work, a series of Cd-3(TMT)(2)/CdS heterojunction composite photocatalysts were prepared by self-formation of CdS nanoparticles using an octahedral coordination polymer Cd-3(C3N3S3)(2) (denoted as Cd-3(TMT)(2)) as a precursor. The photocatalytic performance of Cd-3(TMT)(2)/ CdS heterojunction composites for Cr(VI) has been significantly improved under visible light irradiation owing to effective separation and migration of photoexcited charge carriers. Moreover, Cd-3(TMT)(2)/CdS composites exhibited remarkable photocatalytic reduction performance of Cr(VI) solution with high concentration. This photocatalyst provides a novel route in the photoreduction of Cr(VI).
