1,4-Benzoquinone and 1,4-hydroquinone based determination of electron and superoxide radical formed in heterogeneous photocatalytic systems

Orsolya Fonagy et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the interaction between superoxide radical ions and 1,4-benzoquinone in photocatalytic reactions. It was found that at high concentrations, BQ reacts with photogenerated electrons instead of O-2(center dot-) radicals. The degradation of the resulting product, 1,4-hydroquinone, was found to be dependent on the presence of O-2(center dot-) radicals.

Enhancing Light Absorption and Prolonging Charge Separation in Carbon Quantum Dots via CI-Doping for Visible-Light-Driven Photocharge-Transfer Reactions

G. Murali et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a microwave-assisted synthesis method for the rapid production of 0-CQDs and CI-CQDs from sucrose and sucralose precursors, respectively. Doping CI into CQDs widens the absorption range, enhances the separation of photoexcited charge carriers, and improves the efficiency of photocatalytic reactions.
