CRB Weighted Source Localization Method Based on Deep Neural Networks in Multi-UAV Network

Jingyu Cong et al.

Summary: With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), the use of multi-unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) networks for source detection and localization has gained attention. However, the real-time signal processing of UAVs is limited by computing speed and embedded hardware accuracy, reducing the effectiveness of source localization. This study proposes a Cramer-Rao bound (CRB) weighted multi-UAV network source localization method, using deep neural networks (DNNs) and spatial-spectrum fitting (SSF) to improve accuracy and computational efficiency. The proposed method utilizes UAVs equipped with radar arrays and a deep SSF (DeepSSF) algorithm to achieve accurate DOA estimation.

Channel Estimation for Extremely Large-Scale MIMO: Far-Field or Near-Field?

Mingyao Cui et al.

Summary: This paper studies the near-field channel estimation problem in extremely large-scale multiple-input-multiple-output (XL-MIMO) systems. Due to the non-negligible near-field effects in XL-MIMO, existing far-field channel estimation schemes suffer from performance loss. To address this problem, the paper proposes a near-field channel estimation scheme based on the polar-domain sparsity. By simultaneously considering the angular and distance information in the polar-domain representation, the near-field channel can exhibit sparsity in the polar domain, leading to improved estimation accuracy.

Direction-of-Arrival Estimation for Large Antenna Arrays With Hybrid Analog and Digital Architectures

Ruoyu Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the trade-off between DOA estimation and power consumption in large antenna arrays with hybrid analog and digital architectures, proposing a unified expression and dynamic maximum likelihood estimator for different HAD structures. Theoretical analysis shows that the SC structure can achieve similar performance to FD structures near zero DOAs but suffers from angle ambiguity, while introducing a dynamic SC structure and a switch optimization algorithm to address these issues. A new metric, DOA efficiency, is introduced to measure the trade-off between DOA estimation performance and power consumption of different structures. Simulation results confirm the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.

Mixed Near-Field and Far-Field Localization and Array Calibration With Partly Calibrated Arrays

Jin He et al.

Summary: This study addresses the problem of passive localization of mixed near-field and far-field source signals in the presence of array gain-phase uncertainties. A new algorithm using partly calibrated nonuniform linear arrays is proposed to accommodate a more general situation. The proposed algorithm defines cumulant matrices and constructs matrix pencils to obtain unambiguous range and angle estimates of the near-field sources, and then calibrates array gain-phase errors using these estimates. A spectrum-MUSIC like approach is applied to estimate the angles of the far-field sources.

Adaptive Sparse Array Beamformer Design by Regularized Complementary Antenna Switching

Xiangrong Wang et al.

Summary: In this work, a novel strategy of adaptive sparse array beamformer design, termed regularized complementary antenna switching (RCAS), is proposed to enhance interference suppression by swiftly adapting array configuration and excitation weights according to the dynamic environment. The method involves designing a set of deterministic complementary sparse arrays with good quiescent beampatterns, followed by calculating and reconfiguring an adaptive sparse array tailored for the specific environment based on information extracted from the full array data. The RCAS is formulated as an exclusive cardinality-constrained optimization, proving its effectiveness through rigorous theoretical analysis and simulation results.
