A Multi-User Collaborative AR System for Industrial Applications

Junyi Wang et al.

Summary: This paper presents a multi-user collaborative augmented reality (AR) system that provides diverse industrial processes with AR services through collaboration. The system consists of three modules - MUCStudio, MUCView, and MUCServer - each serving different purposes and achieving collaboration through local map establishment, global map registration, and network synchronization. The usage experience of the system is proven through real-life applications and user studies.

Augmented Reality for Human-Robot Collaboration and Cooperation in Industrial Applications: A Systematic Literature Review

Gabriel de Moura Costa et al.

Summary: This study critically evaluates the application of augmented reality (AR) in human-robot collaboration and cooperation by reviewing 32 papers published between 2016 and 2021. The findings suggest that AR has positive impacts on operator-related aspects, such as performance, task awareness, and safety feeling. However, further development in ergonomic aspects is needed for head-mounted displays (HMDs), which show promising potential in this field. Future research should focus on large-scale assessment in industrial environments and the establishment of standards and guidelines for developing AR assistance systems.

An Enhanced Pedestrian Visual-Inertial SLAM System Aided with Vanishing Point in Indoor Environments

Wennan Chai et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a novel pedestrian dead reckoning (PDR)-aided visual-inertial SLAM system which corrects system drift error using enhanced vanishing point observation, constrains acceleration measurement integration with PDR velocity, and improves positioning accuracy and robustness through local and global optimization. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed optimization method in correcting accumulated drift errors in the visual-inertial SLAM system.
