Multilevel RTN Removal Tools for Dynamic FBG Strain Measurements Corrupted by Peak-Splitting Artefacts

Dominik Johannes Marius Fallais et al.

Summary: Strain measurements using fibre Bragg grating optical sensors can be affected by peak-splitting, causing spikes or step-like offsets in the data. This article presents two methods to remove the additive multi-level random telegraph noise from the raw data and reconstruct the corrupted strain time series.

Study on Dominant Frequency Attenuation of Blasting Vibration for Ultra-Small-Spacing Tunnel

Xianshun Zhou et al.

Summary: The narrowness of the middle rock pillar in ultra-small-spacing tunnels has a significant impact on the stability of the primary support and lining, which is easily affected by blasting vibration waves from adjacent tunnels. Understanding the vibration frequency characteristics is crucial for controlling blasting vibrations. This study investigates the dominant frequency attenuation in the preceding tunnel with varying middle rock pillar spacing. The results reveal variations in the propagation laws of dominant frequencies on the primary support and lining, with a broader distribution on the primary support. The presence of cavities and changing medium between the lining and the primary support contributes significantly to filtering the vibration waves.

Dynamic bending and rotation sensing based on high coherence interferometry in multicore fiber

A. Azmi et al.

Summary: A bending and rotation sensor based on high coherence interferometry in a seven-core fiber is proposed for the first time, utilizing a Michelson interferometer for measurement. The sensor shows extremely high sensitivity to curvature and rotation, capable of detecting the smallest curvature of 0.0032 m-1 or radius of 312 m, and linear response to rotation, making it suitable for robotics, wearable medical devices, and structural health-monitoring applications.

Passive Homodyne Phase Demodulation Technique Based on LF-TIT-DCM Algorithm for Interferometric Sensors

Wanjin Zhang et al.

Summary: The passive homodyne phase demodulation technique proposed in this study relies on a specific algorithm to demodulate phase signals with a large dynamic range and wide frequency band. Experimental results show that the dynamic range of the proposed anti-phase dual wavelength demodulation system is much larger than that of the traditional quadrature dual wavelength demodulation system.
