Pulmonary hypertension in late onset neonatal sepsis using functional echocardiography: a prospective study

Sujata Deshpande et al.

Summary: Pulmonary hypertension is associated with significant morbidity and mortality in newborns. Sepsis has been identified as an independent risk factor for pulmonary hypertension. This study found that nearly half of neonates with late onset sepsis had pulmonary hypertension.

Pulmonary hypertension in a neonatologist-performed echocardiographic follow-up of bronchopulmonary dysplasia

Marilena Savoia et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the feasibility of using neonatologist-performed echocardiography for follow-up of preterm infants with moderate/severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and described the course of pulmonary hypertension (PH) in these infants. NPE follow-up was found to be safe for infants with BPD, aiding in early detection of mild PH.

Pulmonary hypertension in extremely preterm infants: a call to standardize echocardiographic screening and follow-up policy

Sanne Arjaans et al.

Summary: Pulmonary hypertension is a frequent complication in extremely preterm infants with significant impact on outcomes. Despite its clinical importance, there is a lack of standardized guidelines for screening and follow-up of PH in extremely preterm infants in the Netherlands.
