Identity confirmation of anthocyanins in berries by LC-DAD-IM-QTOFMS

Maria del Mar Delgado-Povedano et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the use of low-field drift tube ion mobility (DTIM) separation in anthocyanin screening through LC-DAD-DTIM-QTOFMS method. By combining various analytical methods, six anthocyanins from the cyanidin family were successfully confirmed, with an additional 29 anthocyanins confirmed in berry samples.

Molecular and metabolic insights into anthocyanin biosynthesis during leaf coloration in autumn

Xiehai Song et al.

Summary: The study reveals that structural genes in the anthocyanin biosynthesis pathway are upregulated during autumn leaf coloration in Pistacia chinensis, with ELONGATED HYPOCOTYL 5 (HY5) acting as an integrator of light and low temperature signals. Jasmonic acid content significantly increases during leaf coloration, consistent with changes in anthocyanin content. Under shading treatment, the expression of structural genes is reduced, resulting in less anthocyanin accumulation.

Isolation of Neuroprotective Anthocyanins from Black Chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa) against Amyloid-beta-Induced Cognitive Impairment

Haichao Wen et al.

Summary: The study isolated and purified anthocyanins from black chokeberry using SMB chromatography, investigating its neuroprotective effect against A beta-induced memory damage in rats. Results showed that purified anthocyanins exhibited higher antioxidant abilities and improved spatial memory in rats, indicating their potential as neuroprotective agents in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

Cyanidin 3-O-galactoside: A Natural Compound with Multiple Health Benefits

Zhongxin Liang et al.

Summary: Cyanidin 3-O-galactoside (Cy3Gal) is a widespread anthocyanin with positive health impacts, found in fruits like apples and berries. It shares a biosynthesis pathway and stability with other anthocyanins, but has unique biosynthesis involving galactosyltransferase using UDP-galactose and cyanidin. Chokeberry is identified as a practical source for mass-production. Its antioxidant properties and various health effects make it suitable for use as a food additive or health supplement, with confirmed physiological functions.

Genome-wide identification of Pistacia R2R3-MYB gene family and function characterization of PcMYB113 during autumn leaf coloration in Pistacia chinensis

Xiehai Song et al.

Summary: Research on Pistacia chinensis revealed that R2R3-MYB proteins play a crucial role in anthocyanin biosynthesis and autumn leaf coloration. By conducting genome-wide analysis of transcription factors, PcMYB113 was identified as a key gene with the highest correlation to anthocyanin accumulation, promoting the accumulation of anthocyanin in leaves.
