Effect of atmospheric circulation on surface air temperature trends in years 1979-2018

Summary: The study showed that atmospheric circulation had a minor impact on annual mean temperature trends in most areas, but had a significant effect on seasonal and monthly temperature trends. Removing the effect of circulation changes resulted in residual trends with a smoother annual cycle, which aligned better with model trends from CMIP5.

Estimation of Surface and Near-Surface Air Temperatures in Arid Northwest China Using Landsat Satellite Images

Summary: This study aims to estimate near-surface air temperature (Ta) for Northwest China using multiple linear regression models (MLR) and random forest (RF) algorithms with Landsat 8 images and auxiliary data. The results show that improving the accuracy of land surface temperature (Ts) with the RTE-NDVI method, MLR and RF models are suitable for areas lacking meteorological stations, and the MLR model performs well in spring and summer, especially in plain areas.
