A method for synthesizing high-purity silver(I) complex [Ag-2[B12H12]] through pyrolysis of NaBH4-KBF4 mixtures without organic solvents has been developed. The synthesis involves complex precipitation from a solution with silver nitrate and subsequent silver regeneration from AgNO3 excess. Chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and NMR were used to monitor all stages of synthesis. The results of this study are important in the field of basic and applied chemistry of polyhedral boron compounds.
A method has been developed for synthesis of high-purity silver(I) complex [Ag-2[B12H12]] through pyrolysis of NaBH4-KBF4 mixtures at 300-450 degrees C without using organic solvents, which involves the complex precipitation from a solution with silver nitrate and subsequent silver regeneration from an AgNO3 excess. All stages of synthesis have been monitored by means of chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and NMR. The results of the study may be in demand in basic and applied chemistry of polyhedral boron compounds.
