Assisting Manipulation and Grasping in Robot Teleoperation with Augmented Reality Visual Cues

Stephanie Arevalo Arboleda et al.

Summary: Teleoperating industrial manipulators in co-located spaces can be challenging, but providing additional visual information through augmented reality can improve task performance. Two augmented visual cue designs are presented in this paper to enhance the visual space of the robot operator. Evaluation against a baseline in an experiment shows performance improvements with trade-offs in time, accuracy, and participants' views of teleoperation. This highlights the potential of augmented reality not only in teleoperation but also in understanding the human-robot workspace.
