Staff eye lens dose in interventional radiology and cardiology in Finland

Antti Pekkarinen et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the eye lens and whole-body radiation doses to interventional radiology and cardiology staff in two Finnish hospitals. The results showed that the eye lens dose for most Finnish interventionalists is below 10 mSv per year, and nurses and radiographers assisting in interventions are less exposed than interventionalists.

ASSESSMENT OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE IN THE MAIN PAEDIATRIC INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY PROCEDURES

Ana B. Morcillo et al.

Summary: The study evaluated personal dose equivalent in pediatric interventional radiology procedures, finding significant variation in doses between different interventions, yet a similar value of Hp(10)/P-KA across procedures and patient weights.

Staff radiation dose and estimated risk in an interventional radiology department

M. Alkhorayef et al.

Summary: This study evaluated staff radiation exposure in a radiology department that performs interventional procedures, finding that 16% of staff received doses greater than the annual limit. Therefore, evaluation of the working environment is necessary to ensure dose values remain below annual limits.

Occupational Radiation Dose, Especially for Eye Lens: Hp(3), in Medical Staff Members Involved in Computed Tomography Examinations

Minoru Osanai et al.

Summary: Radiation dose management for medical staff is increasingly important, with a focus on establishing lower equivalent dose limits for the eye lens. This study specifically investigated radiation dose exposure in CT rooms, finding that radiation protection glasses have a significant shielding effect and are useful for staff involved in CT examinations. Consideration of justification and optimization is crucial in assistant actions.

Occupational radiation exposure in doctors: an analysis of rates over 25

Amy R. Sharkey et al.

Summary: The study evaluated the occupational radiation exposure of doctors over a 25-year period, showing a decreasing trend in overall exposure for most specialties but a significant increase in eye exposure for radiologists, surgeons, and anaesthetists, highlighting the need for close monitoring to prevent future issues.

EVALUATION OF ANNUAL RADIATION EXPOSURE OF STAFF IN A CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION DEPARTMENT IN SAUDI ARABIA

A. Sulieman et al.

Summary: The study estimated the annual effective dose for cardiologists and nurses during cardiac catheterization procedures by measuring Hp(10) and Hp(0.07). Cardiologists were found to be exposed to higher doses compared to nurses and technologists, with wide variations depending on occupation and workload. Adherence to radiation protection guidelines was noted, and lens dose measurement was recommended to ensure dose limit compliance.
