Study of comprehensive shielding behaviors of chambersite deposit for neutron and gamma ray

Mengge Dong et al.

Summary: The comprehensive shielding behaviors of chambersite deposit in China for neutron and gamma ray were systematically analyzed for the first time. The results showed that the chambersite deposit has excellent shielding performance for high energy and low energy neutrons, and its gamma ray shielding ability is between steel-magnetite concrete and ilmenite concrete. The prepared sample of chambersite deposit has better shielding performance for both thermal neutron and gamma ray compared to other materials.

Optical, magnetic characteristics, and nuclear radiation shielding capacity of newly synthesized barium boro-vanadate glasses: B2O3-BaF2-Na2O-V2O5

A. S. Abouhaswa et al.

Summary: Barium boro-vanadate glasses were fabricated and their physical, optical, magnetic characteristics, and ionizing radiation resistance were investigated. The results showed that the stability of the glass samples decreased with the increasing V2O5 content, the optical band gap varied with V2O5 content, and the magnetic characteristics reached a maximum value at V2O5 concentration of 2 mol%. The linear attenuation coefficient, MFP, and HVL also changed with V2O5 concentration.

Physical, optical and gamma radiation shielding competence of newly boro-tellurite based glasses: TeO2-B2O3-ZnO-Li2O3-Bi2O3

M. I. Sayyed et al.

Summary: In this study, a traditional melt quenching method was used to synthesize a series of boron tellurite glass samples, with optical properties such as refractive index, molar polarizability, and static dielectric constant calculated based on absorption measurements of the samples. The addition of TeO2 was found to enhance the shielding properties of the glass systems, with the sample containing 80 mol% TeO2 showing the highest attenuation among the samples.

A surveying of photon and particle radiation interaction characteristics of some perovskite materials

Erdem Sakar et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the photon and particle radiation interaction parameters of six different perovskites for radiation applications. Results showed that these parameters strongly depend on the type and energy of radiation, as well as the material type. The most suitable material for photon shielding among the perovskites examined was found to be P6 (Cs2SnI6) inorganic perovskite, though it is not suitable for neutron shielding applications.
