Infant-phase reddening by surface Fe-peak elements in a normal type Ia supernova

Yuan Qi Ni et al.

Summary: Type Ia supernovae, as thermonuclear explosions of white dwarf stars, are important for the chemical evolution of the Universe and cosmological distance measurements. However, their origins still remain uncertain. By studying the infant-phase detections of SN 2018aoz, it has been discovered that a previously unseen plateau in the B band and a rapid redward color evolution occurred shortly after the estimated first light. The presence of excess nucleosynthetic material in the outer layers of the ejecta suggests enhanced surface nuclear burning or extended subsonic mixing processes in some normal type Ia supernova explosions.

A Bright Ultraviolet Excess in the Transitional 02es-like Type Ia Supernova 2019yvq

J. Burke et al.

Summary: This study presents observations of the nearby Type Ia supernova 2019yvq, identifying several unusual features such as an extremely bright UV excess shortly after explosion. Despite efforts to model the data using various published models, no single model accurately captures all aspects of the observations, indicating the need for further research into the unique properties of this subclass of supernovae.

Non-local Thermodynamic Equilibrium Radiative Transfer Simulations of Sub-Chandrasekhar-mass White Dwarf Detonations

Ken J. Shen et al.

Summary: By studying accurate explosion models of sub-Chandrasekhar-mass white dwarf detonations, a quantitative match to a range of SNe Ia has been achieved for the first time, revealing discrepancies in velocities and luminosities, likely stemming from the one-dimensional nature of the models. Future multidimensional non-local thermodynamic equilibrium radiation transport calculations are expected to improve upon these results.

The Automatic Learning for the Rapid Classification of Events (ALeRCE) Alert Broker

F. Forster et al.

Summary: ALeRCE is an astronomical alert broker led by Chile, aiming to provide rapid and self-consistent classification for large telescopes like ZTF and LSST. They use stamp-based and light curve-based classifiers with machine learning for refined categorization. Through real-time processing of a vast number of alerts, they have established a large global user community.

SN 2017fgc: A Fast-expanding Type Ia Supernova Exploded in Massive Shell Galaxy NGC 474

Xiangyun Zeng et al.

Summary: Extensive optical photometric and spectroscopic observations of the high-velocity Type Ia supernova 2017fgc were presented, showing similarities with normal SNe Ia but with some distinct features in spectral lines and light curves, indicating that HV SNe Ia may undergo more complete burning and have higher metallicity in their progenitors. The study of the birthplace environment suggests that SN 2017fgc likely emerged from a stellar environment with young and high-metallicity populations.

On the role of Type Ia supernovae in the second-generation star formation in globular clusters

Summary: The study shows that Type Ia supernovae explosions can impact the formation and chemical properties of second-generation stars in globular clusters. Different delay times and external gas density conditions lead to variations in helium abundance and iron spread among SG stars.

Can the Helium-detonation Model Explain the Observed Diversity of Type Ia Supernovae?

Wenxiong Li et al.

Summary: The study reveals that the B - V colors, spectral features, and velocity variations of Type Ia supernovae are related to their birth environments and explosion mechanisms. High-velocity (HV) and normal-velocity (NV) supernovae may have similar progenitor metallicities, but different explosion mechanisms.
