Weaker prepulse exerts stronger suppression of a change-detecting neural circuit

Shinobu Fujii et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of a preceding decrease in sound pressure on the degree of inhibition of the subsequent Change-N1 amplitude, and found that any type of change in sound feature is inhibited by any type of preceding change stimulus.

Test-retest reliability of prepulse inhibition paradigm using auditory evoked potentials

Nobuyuki Takeuchi et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the test-retest reliability of PPI measured using auditory change-related cortical responses in 35 healthy adults, finding high ICC values for latency and amplitude of most components. The results support the PPI paradigm as a reliable tool for clinical measurements of inhibitory functions.

Electrical field distribution of Change-N1 and its prepulse inhibition

Takayasu Watanabe et al.

Summary: The study confirmed the suitability of frontal/central midline electrodes for recording Change-N1 and showed a right-hemisphere predominance in Change-N1. It also found no difference in %PPI among different regions and hemispheres, and a positive correlation between Change-N1 amplitude at prefrontal electrodes and PPI at frontal electrodes. These results suggest that Change-N1 and its PPI could be useful tools for evaluating change detection sensitivity and inhibitory function, with the option to use prefrontal electrodes for screening tests.
