Thermodynamic analysis and comparison of different absorption cycles driven by evacuated tube solar collector utilizing hybrid nanofluids

Muhammad Abid et al.

Summary: Hybrid nanofluids are effective in improving heat transfer rates in solar thermal applications. This study compared four different absorption cycles driven by evacuated tube collectors and found that using hybrid nanofluids resulted in higher collector efficiency. The quadruple effect absorption cycle had the best performance, with the lowest exergy destruction rate.

Moisture transport analysis for integrated structures of flat plate solar collector and building envelope

Guoqing Yu et al.

Summary: Accumulation of moisture in building envelopes can lead to corrosion of structures and deterioration of indoor environment. A hybrid method for analyzing moisture transport in solar structures was developed and validated through experiments. Results showed that solar walls had lower moisture content in dry conditions compared to ordinary walls, but took longer to dry out in wet conditions. Proper sealing and waterproofing measures are necessary when integrating solar collectors with buildings to prevent water penetration.

Heat transfer analysis and thermal performance investigation on an evacuated tube solar collector with inner concentrating by reflective coating

Shaowei Chai et al.

Summary: An evacuated tube solar collector with inner concentrating (ETSC-IC) was proposed and experimented, showing a 10% improvement in thermal efficiency under the best coating angle with an increase in eccentric distance. The thermal efficiency of ETSC-IC could reach 0.65 to 0.72 under specific solar irradiation conditions, showcasing enhanced irradiation concentration and reduced heat loss compared to conventional evacuated tubes.

Thermal Performance of Facades Based on Experimental Monitoring of Outdoor Test Cells in Tropical Climate

Letzai Ruiz-Valero et al.

Summary: This paper aims to characterize the thermal performance of facades in a tropical climate through experimental monitoring and comparing two construction systems. The findings show that the behavior of the light facade was contrary to expectations, with the reference facade having a lower thermal transmittance than M1.
